This is a beautiful, textural, orange wine that is strikingly reminiscent of the wines from Tom Lubbe at Matassa.
-Discovery Wines
The grapes are grown on the hills of the Faugères on soils of red clay and rocky schist. They are are trucked back and vinified in the Auvergne.
"The name Blandambà is an italianisation of the french blanc d'en bas, which translates to "the white from the bottom". It's because the grapes are from down south and they also because spend a long time down in the cellar. It sounds fun to say, a bit chaotic and also reminiscent of the Lambada: it makes you want to dance!"
The wine consists of 95% Viognier, 5% Muscat Petits Grains. A long, two-month maceration takes place in fiberglass: the grapes are destemmed and see no remontages, resulting in a lot of structure but little color.
